A review of the literature illustrates the importance of this shrub in moose diets at several North American locations and its contribution as a quality food item. The ability of hazelnut to withstand heavy browsing and to out-compete tree species following opening of the forest canopy are characteristics that should be exploited when planning moose habitat improvement programs in areas where this shrub is found.</p>}, journal={Alces: A Journal Devoted to the Biology and Management of Moose}, author={Trottier, Gerry C.}, year={1981}, month={Jan.}, pages={257–281} }
